Montezuma's Castle

Near Sedona is Montezuma's Castle and Montezuma's Well. Of course, Montezuma never really resided here and it isn't really a castle. But the names have stuck. Never-the-less, the place is pretty impressive. Here are some of our photos from the area.

Montezuma's Castle is a multi-story structure built in the wall of a sandstone cliff.

It it over 700 years old.

There are 5 floors and a 6th roof area under the cave.

Many room (apartments) are inside this structure.

Nearby, about 15 miles north, is Montezuma's Well. This is the outlet of the well.

Actually, there was plenty of water near the "castle" so the well actually provided water for another clan.
