Death Valley - 1999 Trip

Eureka Valley

Eureka valley is part of the new addition to Death Valley National Park. The park is now 3,336,000 acres in size. One of the main attractions in Eureka Valley is the very large sand dunes. Also, the drive to get there passes through the beautiful Hanging Rock Canyon.

Eureka Valley

The road to Eureka Valley was over 20 miles of rough wash board. Before heading thru the Hanging Rock Canyon we came to Crankdhaf Crossing.

At the crossing one road lead to Gold Poinf and the other to Hanging Rock Canyon and on to Eureka Valley

Here is Cliff standing by the Crankshaft Crossing.

And here is Steve standing by the crossing.

Apparently someone once lost their crankshaft here; hence the name. Now others leave their crankshafts here, too.

We have finally reached the Eureka Valley after about 2.5 hours driving.
