COLORADO TRIP - 2001

8/31/01 (Friday) - Heber, Utah to Salt Lake City, Utah

We are now in Salt Lake City at the KOA V.I.P. Campground.  540 sites.  Nice place!  Many shade trees, nice sites, reasonable price, cable TV, etc. It is just about a mile west on Templefrom Temple Square.

We spent the day touring all the sites in Temple Square.  IMPRESSIVE!

On the left is the new convention center. On the right is the Mormon Tabernacle.
The convention center has just opened within the past year. It is really impressinve!
The Mormon Tabernacle was built in 1864 and is equally impressive.

We saw the famous Mormon Tabernacle and listened to a 1/2 hour organ recital there.  Very nice.  Took tours of the Beehive house (Brigham Young's house) and all the other interesting sites there.  Particularly impressive was the new Mormon Convention center.  They have a meeting hall that seats 21,000!  A FIRST CLASS auditorium.  There is much, much more we can say, but I'll leave that for the web page posting with pictures next week.

We went to the shopping acade across the street for lunch and postcard shopping. Here's some of the colorful displays we saw.

We went to the food circus for lunch. First we had Thai food but Yoshiko was still hungry. So she went to the Panda Express (Chinese) and got another lunch. You can see her buying it here.

Anyway, we had a most delightful day.  Everyone was very kind and friendly.  We recommend a visit here to everyone.

Tomorrow we leave for a three day return home trip.  Not any special sightseeing places and this may be the last email report until we return home.  Hope you haven't been bored by the reports 'til now.  If so, se la vie.
