Manzanar

Manzanar is located 5 miles south of Independence near the base of Mt. Williamson in the eastern Sierras.

We are preparing to enter the main gate to Manzanar. The guard house is to the left..

We parked our truck and trailer and walked out to the old cemetery.

There is a monument erected at the cemetery. The writing translates to "soul consoling tower."
Only 15 people were buried here, most others who died were buried in their home towns.
Most of the 15 have since been moved elsewhere by their relatives. People left rememberances at the monument.
