The above panorama is of ghost town Bodie located about 12 miles due north of Mono Lake. Bodie was born when gold was discovered there in about 1860. It saw rapid growth in 1878 during a gold rush. It survived as a viable town until 1932 when it was essentially destroyed by fire.
