A Cross Country Odyssey - 2003

Menor's Ferry, Grand Tetons National Park, Wyoming

Another historic spot is the site of Menor's Ferry. The ferry across the Snake river is still operated by the park service. Bill Menor settled this spot in 1894 and established the ferry for crossing the Snake River. He also established a general store. Both the ferry and the store are preserved for visits. In 1927 a bridge was built just downstream of the ferry and became the preferred method for crossing the river.

Steve is relaxing on the porch of the general store

From a window in the store can be seen this view of the Tetons

The river powered ferry is coming across the river to our side

The ferry is a raft placed on top of two boats.

Tsukiko and Yoshiko are donning the required life vests for crossing the river

Steve has his life vest on. The pilot has a different king of life vest. (I like his better)
