A Cross Country Odyssey - 2003

Franconia Notch, New Hampshire

Franconia Notch is one of the major tourist attractions in New Hampshire. Highlites there include the Profile (which fell down this year), the Basin and the Flume.

The Flum, which is similar to Watkins Glen, is shown on this page. An admission fee was required to access this area for the 2 mile walk through the 90 ft deep gorge.

Yoshiko and Tsukiko can be seen on the boardwalk entering the gorge

It is quite narrow in spots and the elevated walk lets us keep our feet dry.

Steps make it easy to climb out of the gorge

This old guy is using a walking stick

The waterfall is working on reshaping the gorge

The water is clear and cool to the touch
