A Cross Country Odyssey - 2003

Seneca Lake - Cardboard Boat Race

While we were in Watkins Glen the annual Cardboard Boat Race was held on Seneca Lake. The boats are home (hand) made and consist of cardboard and a LOT of duct tape. Some are painted up quite nicely. We managed to see a bit of the action and have a few photos to show.

Before the cardboard boat race the entries were paraded through town. This boat looks like a cow on its back.

Another boat entry. Participants are dressed in shorts, hats and various necklaces.

Tsukiko and Yoshiko are enjopying some cotton candy

This turkey boat is one of the entries

This boat sank during the competition and is in the boat junkyard. (Many entries ended up here)

This boat survived the competition and is ready to race again next year.
