The St. Mary's River connects Lake Huron and Lake Superior. On both sides of the river are the towns of Sault Ste. Marie. Ine in in Michigan and the other is in Ontario, Canada. The Soo Locks are located here and are used to transfer large ocean going ships between the lower level Lake Huron and the higher level Lake Superior. The difference in elevation is about 40 feet.
We crossed over to the Canadian side where we camped for a night and observed the Soo Locks and the activity there.
