WBCCI Indy 500 Rally

Our rally hosts were from the Central Indiana Unit of the WBCCI. They did a wonderful job and put on a great rally.

One of the activities at the rally was to make model race cars and have our own race. The participants at the rally were divided into 6 teams and each team was given a block of styrofoam and 4 wooden wheels and let loose on the project.

We divided our team into subteams: a parts team led by Ken Harris who was also our team leader; a chassis team led by Fritz Scherpinski and included a couple of other members: a body fabrication team which included Dennis Maynez, his friend Rodney, and Steve Deiwert; a design and paint team which included Bev Harris, June Scherpinski and Yoshiko Deiwert

Here are the six race car entries from the different teams. Our race car is at the far end.	The race fans are seated in the stands waiting for the race to begin.

Our proud team is shown here with out colors (red, white & blue scarves) and our entry.

While we didn't win first place for the "fastest or furthest" car, we did get the prize for the best looking race car. Artist Yoshiko is holding the winning car and has her trophy (a tootsie pop) in hand.
